This season has been characterised by relentless determination in the pursuit of Boat Race victories on March 30th. The squad has pushed itself harder than any I have been a part of in previous years, and I am incredibly proud of the work that we have done this season.

We started the year with a healthy contingent of returners from last year’s winning Blue Boat and Goldie, as well as some strong new talent. Coming off the back of the success of last year, we knew that complacency would be our enemy. We had to rise to the challenge of the 2024 season with more motivation and drive, to improve more than ever.

With new focuses brought in by our exceptional coaching team of Rob Baker and Bill Lucas, the squad has been hard at work building a foundation of length and power that I believe will make us a formidable unit. What has been most inspiring is seeing just how much our returners have stepped on; to a man, individual improvement over the course of the season has been very impressive.

It is impossible to predict what will happen on March 30th. The Boat Race is characterised by unknowns: the speed of our opposition, the raceday conditions, etcetera. It’s part of what makes it such an engaging event. All I do know is that when we line up against Oxford, we will have left no stone unturned in trying to make the fastest eights possible.

Commitment, enthusiasm and belief amongst the squad have been unparalleled this year. All that remains now is to race.
